Vonda (Johnson) Carlton is the proud owner of Vonda's Yorkieville. It is located at 212 Hillcrest and has many furry residents. All of the dogs are registered with the America Kennel Club or Continental Kennel Club. They are both registries of purebred dog pedigrees in the Untied States.
Vonda says her love for the Yorkshire Terrier breed started 30 years ago. She named her first Yorkie “Pixie”. Vonda began breeding Yorkshire Terriers and soon realized she needed to build them their own home. Her husband Don, helped her design and create a blueprint for the “perfect” home for her Yorkies. Don built the entire kennel himself. Yorkieville has a living room, utility room, kitchen, grooming area, photo studio, nursery and an office. In 2020, a new addition was added. It is a large sunroom with heat/air. The dogs play in there when weather doesn't permit them being outside. They have mazes, tunnels and tons of toys to play with while they are in there. They even have a huge flat screen to watch their favorite shows. Vonda is very proud of her kitchen knobs. They are actually pictures of some of her past Yorkie puppies. Yorkieville feels more like a home environment than a dog kennel. Each dog has their own bed and outdoor run. Their sleeping area is climate controlled to keep them comfortable. Vonda states that the majority of her sells come from people finding her through the internet. She photographs her puppies in her studio and updates her website as needed. She prefers you pick your puppy up in person. It is less stressful for the puppy and she gets the chance to meet you.
If you are interested in a puppy, she has a variety of sizes, colors and body shapes of Yorkies. She has recently started breeding Parti Yorkies ! You can contact her at 618-889-1010. Her email is vondacarlton@yahoo.com.
Being centrally located in Southern Illinois she has proud customers from Western Kentucky, South East Missouri, Southern Indiana and North Tennessee.
Vonda has been raising Yorkshire Terriers for around 30 years. The breeders she has now are descendants from all of her years of breeding. She can go back up to 7 generations on some of her dogs.
The of the most frequently asked questions that we get is "do you have any teacup Yorkies?". The simple truth is that neither we nor anyone else on this earth has a "teacup" Yorkshire Terrier because no such classification exists. Let me clarify.
The official breed standard for the Yorkshire terrier calls for adult Yorkies to have a weight of no more than seven(7) pounds.
To be exact, the breed standard states: "Weight: Must not exceed seven pounds." This definition was approved on April 12, 1966. Why then, you may ask, do so many breeders advertise teacup Yorkies? There are only two reasons:
Fraud
Some unscrupulous breeders advertise teacup Yorkies to take advantage of those people who are not very familiar with Yorkies. By telling someone that they are getting a "teacup", they make the buyer feel that they are getting something special (as if one is much more special than a Yorkie at all. Many of these people also advertise "toy" and or "standard" Yorkies with weights up to 10 or 12 pounds. As stated above, a standard Yorkshire terrier must weigh no more than 7 pounds.
Ignorance
Sadly, there are people out there breeding Yorkshire terriers who simply aren't knowledgeable about Yorkies to know that there is no such thing as a "teacup". One can only image their general breed knowledge and the quality of their puppies.
Our babies are adopted quickly, so reach out to reserve your furever friend or to ask any questions.
